MAINreel: Greater Flexibility Through a Modular System
Modular solution that replaces complexity with flexibility and efficiency
Does every cutting robot really need its own cable drum? For many companies, this was a long-standing reality. With every additional machine, it wasn’t just the technical complexity that grew—so did the space requirements in the vehicle, the training needs for the team, and the investment in further system components. This is exactly where IMS Robotics steps in with the MAINreel.
One System, Endless Possibilities
With the MAINreel, IMS Robotics is launching a solution that consistently translates its slogan, "One system, Endless possibilities," into practice. Instead of relying on individual, permanently coupled products, the focus is on a system that unites different robot systems, video systems, and application areas into a single solution. For users, this primarily means greater flexibility, lower entry costs, and a product that can grow alongside the demands of daily work.
Modularity as a Key Advantage
The decisive benefit of the MAINreel lies in its modular design. The basic drum can be expanded as needed and is compatible with electric or pneumatic robots from the DRIVE, DRIVEplus, and TURBO series, covering a range from DN150 (6“) to DN800 (32“).
Furthermore, it can be used with various video systems and is equally compatible with stand-alone crawlers as well as ultra-high-pressure water crawlers. Swapping a robot on-site takes only a few simple steps and requires no additional drums. This creates the flexibility needed to react instantly to changing project requirements.
Economic Benefits and Scalability
The MAINreel also offers clear economic advantages. Companies can start with a basic version and expand the system step-by-step without having to redesign their entire setup. Features include:
- Free Combinability: Options can be mixed and matched to move from basic equipment to an all-in-one solution.
- Rental Options: For temporary projects, users can access robots from the IMS rental fleet at short notice, reducing upfront investment costs.
- Versatile Deployment: Designed for both mobile on-site use and fixed vehicle installation, available in 100-meter and 150-meter variants.
Built for the Practical World
In terms of construction, the MAINreel is strictly geared toward field use. A wide range of options is available, including:
- Manual or motorized hose layering.
- Automatic or manual winding.
- Meter counting and specialized couplings.
- Solutions for high-pressure water or nitrogen supply.
Specifically, the optional nitrogen supply helps prevent service issues and increases the overall uptime of the system during operation.
Service-Friendly Design
Instead of a closed, inaccessible system, IMS Robotics utilizes accessible and standardized components. Individual units—such as the control panel, trolley, or camera—can be swapped quickly. This simplifies the supply of spare parts, shortens repair times, and ensures high system availability.
With the MAINreel, IMS Robotics combines flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and ease of service into a single system. Instead of managing multiple isolated solutions, this approach connects different milling robots and video systems, making daily operations noticeably more efficient.
One system, endless possibilities.
